FAQs

What is The Pulley Group ethos?

Give ’em what they want, when they want it, without hassle.

Why do members of your team have at least 10 years of newsroom experience?

Malcolm Gladwell, in his best-selling book, The Tipping Point, posits that attaining a high level of proficiency in a field requires 10,000 hours of endeavor. To be on the safe side, we doubled Gladwell’s standard and set the bar at 20,000 hours—the equivalent of working full-time in a newsroom for 10 years.

How is The Pulley Group different from the vast universe of freelance writers?

Anyone can call himself a journalist. Many freelance writers (not all) are unlicensed, uncredentialed and short on real-world experience. The Pulley Group was founded, in part, to help consumers distinguish the good from the bad, the bad from the libelous.

We are an agency of highly-skilled, experienced journalists. We guarantee a high level of competence and professionalism. We  follow a rigorous editorial process and adhere to generally accepted journalistic practices and protocols. We routinely produce content that is expertly researched and deftly written.

How do you maintain editorial integrity?

To ensure quality, The Pulley Group works only with accomplished journalists–and we follow a structured editorial process. At the front end, we make sure that we understand clients’ needs. Throughout the process, editors and writers work together to keep projects focused and on track. As a matter of course, we check facts and edit content before releasing it to clients for final approval.

Do you guarantee client satisfaction?

We work hard to understand customers’ needs at the outset of every project. Then we work even harder to meet them. We’re not happy until you’re happy.

What about electronic and social media?

Print media has survived the telegraph, the telephone, radio and television. In the Internet era, it will continue to be an effective means of communication. Yet electronic and social media are creating exciting new channels for connecting with audiences. With so many choices, the challenge is to use the right medium, for the right audience at the right time A well-executed blog, for example, can be one of the most cost-effective means of engaging contemporary customers, clients and constituents.

Do you offer design services?

Our philosophy is to do one thing and do it well: We create exceptional content. Recognizing that some clients also need layout and design services, we collaborate with trusted partners to meet those needs.

Do you cover live events?

Yes. Members of our team have years of experience covering legislative sessions, government hearings, legal proceedings, conferences and other events.
